my new ar15
My latest, I call her the Reaper, for obvious reasons, I can keep track of what mags are mine in quick shooting and moving training. Have turned the take down pins myself out of stainless steal. Reaper dust cover, extended charging handle lever. Love the pistol grip “ thanks ishootdaily” still needs improvements but a damn good start.
looks sweet TY
You've start down the addictive path of Bang! There is no turning back so it's best to find a toy for you lady so she can join in the fun along the way! hehehe
Should be endless days of fun and able to depend on it when it is absolutely needed too.
addictive path of bang, sounds very Tsun Tsu.
that I never did check into years ago.
Who in the hell came up with the name for Bangkok?
I mean damn, now that was totally Zen...
gee, thanks smithw45, you didn't have to... I think I'm starting to blush. Wait, I think its called blushing. Damnit, I have to go change my pants now.
if you would only hide behind your clown grease when you change your pants...
leave my fat clown grease out of this. This is between me and my pants.
Nice. I agree, that pistol grip is sweet.
go travel down the path of ammo purchase.
thanks , ya ammo is needed now. a lot of it!!
ok hunters out here i got a question, I’ve never tried to take down a deer with a 223, since I now own one I’m thinking about taking my AR. Question 1 is it good enough to take down a white tail. 2 where do I aim, I know hitting one in the head will defiantly do the trick, but can I am for lungs and heart? 3 will i get an exit hole if shot broadside?
Yes good for hunting but make sure your good with your rifle,I seen HP ammo for it but check you laws where your going to hunt for the ammo amont in rifle.Get some pic's for us here on GUNS LOT...................TY
12 deer with the .223.i killed all 12 cleanly with a heart/lung shot.10 were standing and dropped almost immediately,2 were running from 5 to 11 away from me and about 30 meters out.I shot both, one right after the other, one dropped within about 30 feet, the other dumped right there beside it.one of the 2 had an exit wound,i can.t remember how many else did.I used a Mini-14 for all shots.i have no problem with the .223 round on deer, most deer here weigh around 200 lbs.I don't think i took a shot longer than 100 meters at any of them, most were 30=40 meter shots.i never aim for the head.
Absolutely the .223 can take whitetail. Check you local laws as TallGuy said, because some states don't allow any .22 for hunting. But I'll let you know an old timer's secret. The .22LR used to be the most common whitetail cartridge. I don't recommend this myself as that was a different kind of hunting (i.e totally illegal). But my point being, if the .22LR can take whitetail, the .223 is more than adequate. The whitetail is, in terms of size and tissue makeup, similar to the 2-legged critters the .223 was designed for. Just a caveat, don't go for head shots. A deer moves it head a lot and there is a high probability for a mortal wound but without recovery. In other words, you are just as likely to blow the poor things jaw off and it will run off, you will never find it, and it will die over a period of days in agony. Stick to aiming just behind shoulder blade. It depends what target the deer presents. The broadside is the best. You have to adjust to slightly closer to the shoulder blade as the front of the deer is turned toward you, with a straight front-on shot needing to be in between its centerline and the inside of its leg in the chest area. Reverse this for a deer as its head direction point away from you. If it is completely ass towards you, you could do a "Texas Heart Shot" and shoot it right through its ass and to the chest cavity.
Thanks guys, ive shot plenty of deer already just not with a .223 an im not above asking for help. Ive had people tell me about the .22 hunting and from what I understand they sit on a deer trail and wait for then to come up close turn on a light and shoot them in the eye. No interested in that though, I like my guns don’t want them taken away for poaching. My laws are it has to be over a .22 and I have to go to zone one witch is about an hour an a half north to use a rifle. Seasons still a ways off just getting ready, thanks again.
