Obama got his way again! The Senate Passed on not puchasing more!
I'll never understand this. Spend all that money developing an aircraft leaps and bounds better than anything out there and anything planned on coming out soon, and then buy only a handful. What are they going to replace all the F15's with...the F35?...that was designed to replace the F16, I don't think it's in the same league as the F22.
Nothing is in the Raptors league! The F35 will have some of the F22's technology, but not all. The worse part is I believe 14 Rep. voted against buying more including Mcain!
this is the work of US Congressman Barney Frank. He is the leader in the House against the F 22 Raptor. yes, the cost of these warplanes is expensive, at over 140 million dollar each with minimum equipment. with maximum equipment cost can go much higher, but this warplane is one of only two 5th generation jet warplanes. the other one is of course the F 35 Lightning 2. which btw, the congress recently pass acquisition bill to pay for 700 more of the the F 35s from Lockheed/Martin. they are much less expensive at only 57 million dollar each. however the Raptor is the most powerful and fastest fighter/interceptor ever developed. it is reasonable for some people to think they are too expensive. original cost was to be only 55 million, but the design demanded so much more that the cost skyrocketed per each plane. however, from the very beginning, Congressman Frank was against this program. he is very powerful man with huge amount of seniority in the House and even conservatives kow tow to him. this is bad. we need many more of these F 22 Raptor warplanes. there is no warplane in all the world that can stand up to it, not even any of our own warplanes.
It's what we don't Know about the F22, that makes it Awesome! My Dad has worked on it from it's Top Secret stages. He won't say much, but I've heard enough to be very impessed!
are dancing in the streets of some backass country...i had posted the spec.on this thing last week...a kick ass frghter jet to be sure...
stopping the production of f22s at 187 because they are so expensive and are going to be outdated soon enough, technology advances continue. The f35 will be an improvement for the Navy and Marine Corps air wing.
