This is dedication.
I don't agree that it is dedication. It is his DUTY!!!! You, according to your profile, are active duty. You should understand that it is in fact his duty. I am by no means trying to say that this man is not dedicated. I don't believe that he would be there doing his duty at that particular post if he were not extremely dedicated. In a sense, I envy this serviceman. Mainly because of his duty. I believe that this duty is an awesome honor. Perhaps we do not see it the same way, and that is fine with me. I salute him, and I thank him (and you and all military veterans) for their service to this great nation. You see, I'm a veteran also. I understand his duty, and his dedication to that duty. Dan, I wish you all the best, and I will keep you and your family in my prayers and ask God to look over you and protect you. I will pray that he gives your family strength in those times that you are not able to be with them because of your duty. I hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
I dunno, there was a time when I thought only the truly dedicated were selected for the Honor Guard. But with all the crap revolving around the care takers and their total lack on respect begs one to question it all...
First of all thank you for your thoughts and prayers, and for your service. Yes it is his duty, but these men chose to be out there during those storms. All of DC was shut down including all the monuments and other attractions. The men and women of the Honor guard made the decision to still go out there even though they did not have to.
