Freedom and Jeff

Freedom
And I have been together 10 years this summer.
She came in as a baby in 1998 with two broken
Wings. Her left wing doesn't open all the way
Even after surgery, it was broken in 4
Places. She's my Baby.

When
Freedom came in she could not stand
And both wings were broken. She was
Emaciated and covered in lice. We made the
Decision to give her a chance at life, so I took
Her to the vets office. From then
On, I was always around her. We had her in a
Huge dog carrier with the top off, and it
Was loaded up with shredded newspaper for her to
Lay in. I used to sit and talk to her,
Urging her to live, to fight; and she would lay
There looking at me with those big brown eyes.
We also had to tube feed her for weeks.

This
Went on for 4-6 weeks, and by then she still
Couldn't stand. It got to the point where the
Decision was made to euthanize her if she
Couldn't stand in a week. You know you don't
Want to cross that line between torture and
Rehab, and it looked like death was
Winning. She was going to be put
Down that Friday, and I was supposed to come in
On that Thursday afternoon. I didn't want to go
To the center that Thursday, because I couldn't
Bear the thought of her being euthanized;
But I went anyway, and when I walked in everyone
Was grinning from ear to ear. I went
Immediately back to her cage; and there she was,
Standing on her own, a big beautiful
Eagle. She was ready to live. I was
Just about in tears by then. That
Was a very good day.

We
Knew she could never fly, so the director
Asked me to glove train her. I got her used to
The glove, and then to jesses, and we
Started doing education programs for schools in
Western Washington . We wound up in the newspapers,
Radio (believe it or not) and some TV.

Miracle Pets even did a show About us.

In
The spring of 2000, I was diagnosed with
Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. I had stage 3,
Which is not good (one major organ plus
Everywhere), so I wound up doing 8 months of
Chemo. Lost the hair - the whole
Bit. I missed a lot of work. When I
Felt good enough, I would go to Sarvey ;
And take Freedom out for walks. Freedom would
Also come to me in my dreams and help me fight
The cancer. This happened time and time again.

Fast
Forward to November 2000, the day after
Thanksgiving. I went in for my last
Checkup. I was told that if the cancer was not
All gone after 8 rounds of chemo, then my last
Option was a stem cell transplant. Anyway, they
Did the tests; and I had to come back Monday for
The results. I went in Monday, and I was
Told that all the cancer was gone.

So
The first thing I did was get up to Sarvey and
Take the big girl out for a walk. It was misty
And cold. I went to her flight and jessed her
Up, and we went out front to the top of the
Hill. I hadn't said a word to
Freedom, but somehow she knew. She looked at me
And wrapped both her wings around me to where I
Could feel them pressing in on my back
(I was engulfed in eagle wings), and she
Touched my nose with her beak and stared into my
Eyes, and we just stood there like that
for I don't know how long. That was a
Magic moment. We have been soul mates ever
Since she came in.

This is a very special Bird.

I never forget the honor I have of being so close
To such a magnificent spirit as Freedom.

Great story

No reason that a big, powerful bird like an eagle can't be as affectionate to her favorite human as can a parakeet. It's a wonderful feeling when an animal loves you so much.

If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man. (Mark Twain).

Sitting here crying like a baby.. We guys don't stray far from the things that define what we are. so im sitting surrounded by work plaques, guns, and all my "guy" stuff.. and yep.. crying like a baby..

I had a tech come out to the house to set up our Sat / cable TV.. He and his wife had birds, and we spent an enjoyable day learning about big birds.. As Ecaman say its always a treat when an animal loves you, and they do.. I know you can call it anthropomorphic behaviour.. Tell that to the guy who had the relationship above.. All Gods creatures, great and small..

a man has to hold his word, hold his beliefs, and hold a good sight picture.

and now too,,,, She is weak,,, She is damaged,,, but can recover her Splendor. America is beat up and broken a bit but good men, even men beat up and broken a little them selves can reach in deep and heave up the incumbents one decisive battle.

I'm up early today and I'm going to my local polls. I'm not exactly going to vote my one vote. I'm going to campaign. I don't know all the positions of the hopeful, but I will learn them and I will influence them if they are off a bit. I know he loves the Constitution and I want Congress replaced (even though I spoke to my congressman 3 times before Obomacontrol and he actually was one of the few Dumacraps that voted against Socialist Healtcare)

I will certainly do it again in November. Even harder then. It is what I do. It is all I know. Fight the good fight. I would have been a Vet if ya'll didn't know. Right out of high school I tried. They wouldn't take me. Too tall then, at A time of Carter's major cutbacks. I tried every branch. I lost my dream of eventually becoming a NASA Pilot/Astronaut. But later I got that dream anyway from our Lord.. (Remember what you wish for you will get)

All my Local Sheriffs surrounding know that I will Pipe a Soldier or fallen Officer, all they have to do is ask. Where I am from this is how we are. http://www.southernstandard.com/v2/content.aspx?module=ContentItem&ID=17...
http://media.iadsnetwork.com/contentitempdf/pdfs/144000/144201.pdf#Searc... I have to stop, I'm sounding like I'm campaigning or something, I'm not. I'm better as a stage hand or background worker always.

I have good kids, I have to take my Country back for them. I have to do two things that Freedom needs. I have to love my fellow man and I have to hate(with a perfect hate ...the Bible way) and destroy the evil man from amongst us. I am a traditional American, I will not be ruled. I will not look at my(or any other children) and say "well I sat in front of the tv and said somebody ought to DO something....don't look at me" My kids are actually proud to be in it too.

I'm preachin' ..I'm sorry ....Let me get out of here and go get busy. But if Freedom needs me to once stand in front of Her and Defend her,,,, I think you get the connotation here. I am ready.

....only from my cold dead fingers.

"We fight not for Glory nor for Honors; but only and alone we fight for Freedom, which no Good Man surrenders but with his life" - Robert the Bruce "Declaration of Arbroath"

Padre, Big,

Well said, Patriots need to step up and fight for America not for us but for the future generations.
