saving my nickles, dimes and quarters in a pickle jar, and finally getting enough for a similar single shot Springfield for $4.95. I lied my age, and the shop owner did not ask for any ID. I walked all the way home with the box, because I did not want to take it on the bus. That was the beginning of my covert life of crime----my folks never knew I had the rifle, until many years later.

Man, you just opened up the flood gates in my mind. I did the same thing & got an old H&R single shot 12 gauge from a friend of my brother law. I had to have been in my 20's when my dad asked where that 12 gauge came from. I told him the story & we had a good laugh. turns out my mom knew from the start????
Any day above dirt is a good day!!!
My New Motto: Where Do I Sign? (Oh yes I would)
I am surprised that they didn't tan your hide when they found out...lol

Best gift i ever got.. Not sure if i was 10 or 11.. Christmas morning.. presents are all opened... Pop says to Mom, Didn't we get Greg something else honey i thought i remember you having something under the bed...
I had hinted, but thought the chance of us being able to afford it was pretty low.. Pop tells me to go check under thier bed.. heres a boxed up Stevens single shot.. WOW..
What was cool was that he had me go get it cause he knew i would break down and cry, and he was smart enough to let me do that in piece.. Pretty special looking back at it.. i was so happy i think it took about 10 min before i was undercontol enough to come back to the living room.. Can't remember how old i was, but remember i had to wait till may the following year before i could buy LR rounds for it.. Liked to wore that bbl out with shorts ..
Had a bad break up down in Tucson, and had to leave all my stuff at the gals house.. bad as in "give me two steps" sorta bad.. Anyway i lost that rifle in the deal, and sure wish i had it now.
a man has to hold his word, hold his beliefs, and hold a good sight picture.
Yall got me to thinking. I got a couple of air rifles but never had anyone give me a firearm.
Heck, until I moved out of the folks house, I didn't need one. Dad had (still does) a wide assortment of long guns. Never a pistol in the house though. If I said I wanted to shoot something, I was told to get it and go. Of course, I was the one always cleaning and oiling them.
The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!
Remeber the old plastic ones .. Not the high quality GI joes that came later, but the packs of like 20 of these little green army guys.. We would collect those and take them out to the woods behind where we lived.. had a little stream that went thru it.. and we would set up a bunch of them...back off and shoot them with the 22's.. When we were lucky enough to have lady fingers those would be our gernades.. we fought many a battle.. and i had a lot of little green army guys with little round holes in them..
Sheesh no wonder were so screwed up..
