Thanks Hamp! The fact that you are a descendant of the original owner just makes the reading more interesting.
I think one of the great things about our site is we all share the same intrests.. Guns are the common denominator, but typical guys, anything that flys, drives, or as in this case sails is cool.. The storys the old girl could tell huh.. Makes you feel like a whimp knowing that some of our grandfathers and great grandfathers sailed around the horn and the cape (still supposed to be scary stuff) in serious weather, and we get bummed out if we get rained on..
Thanks for sharing some of your families history.
Well off to the salt mines see you all later tonight.
Cool stuff Hamp. Shipping magnate huh? Learning all sorts of things today. Jeff is an ape and we all thought you were just an auto parts salesman.
Hamp, This is some great reading!!!! History is exciting, and to know that I can visit with a man that has a great family history, is rewarding!! This must be a great day in the life of the Woodside Haritage. Are you planing a visit??
In my words, "you must be happier than a puppy, that just discovered his pecker"!!!
It was a pleasure to read about your family!!!! The dates that the "Polly" sailed, things that was hauled, places she went, Her History is as rich and important as the roll she played in the world. May she always be afloat.
and Dad visited her years ago when we lived in Perth Australia, that was the early 70's and I was just a tot. I would really like to visit her before I croak, maybe in a year or two.
I am the shipping magnate, kind of like Onassis...the internet is a mysterious place....lollolol
Thanks for this history. It's most interesting, and knowing that it has a connection to you makes it doubly so.
