Ridiculous Price Asked By Appliance Repair Guy

Ridiculous Price Asked By Appliance Repair Guy

I bought this stove awhile back, the R/F burner control switch hung up in the full blast mode. I called the repair dude, he wanted $240 for the switch plus labor.
I bought the switch on the 'net, $37. It took LESS than 5 minutes to swap out.
Sorry A&E Factory Service, Tulsa Central Service, Tulsa, OK. I can't afford your help!

Hi TG,

Warranty expired about a year ago. Fairly new stove.
I have my Kirby vacuum cleaner on the bench now, it's ancient but I can still buy parts for it. Today I'll be replacing the feed hose that goes to the bag. Serious $$ at the Kirby store, cheap on the 'net.

This is what I fear from our coming generations. They don't seem (in general) to know how to do shit themselves. My generation owns much of the blame. You can't expect them to if you don't teach them.
I teach my son all I can about these kind of things he'll never get in school. I'm not sayin' I'm doing good, but I'm trying.

Too true. I'm not trying to get holier-than-thou or anything, but the way I was raised, I still patch clothes and darn socks and such before I get rid of anything.
And even when they can't be mended anymore, they make good rags or gun cleaning patches.

Necessity is the mutha that forces people to be inventive, like me, the kids will learn eventually and prolly the hard way. :<))
