I saw Ernie, in "From Here to Eternity". I had just separated from active duty, and returned to college on the Korean GI Bill. I was a member of the college "Lttle Theatre", and wanted us to do the play--with my covetous eye on the Fatso Judson part. We did not do it.
I still believe Ernie was the BEST young villain, I ever saw. I could never have touched his performance, but I shamlessly admit I believe I could have outdone Peter Boyle's work on the TV mini-series version.
I will miss him greatly, although he will live on in his many films, and we will be able to celebrate him as a fine actor and a finer U S citizen.

"....would someone please show this poor asshole the way out of town?"....Avram Belinsky, the "Frisco Kid".

The Wild Bunch - the best western movie ever, Emperor of the North Pole - Lee Marvin and Ernest Borgnine - two giants at epic battle.
