one of these up for a lot less than $649, I'm thinking $100-$150 in materials.

Not talking about dinner plates, .. hmm.. ok let me move on before i talk myself into doing something really stupid..
You guys are all shooters and know the drill, all of the shooting events i have been involved with have metal plates (mostly square) and of course ring when you shoot them.. Normal course of fire is to have some type of odd thing to shoot out of or around.. and then at ranges from 5 to 50 yds..(average more like 15 yds) will be five plates you have to shoot.. This is done either from holstered surrender position, or on with the piece sitting on a table of some sort in front of you.. and of course timed..
We all know this is the backbone of most practical shooting sports and then you make changes to incorporate tactical reloads etc.. but all built around shooting plates.. Don't know if any of you guys have shoot bowling pins besides lucky when they were popular, but they were harder than plates, and you had to hit center mass to get them off the board..
Cabelas and Bass Pro Shop all offer metal targets "poppers" like the above.. and for a lot less money, I have a question.. whats the deal with 4 shooters.. how would 4 shooters handle 6 targets.. someone fix my math..
a man has to hold his word, hold his beliefs, and hold a good sight picture.
i like the home made ones that have hanging plates.. just hang 4 metal squares (or four of anything that are the same size) off a T post, then two more T posts to drive in and some bailing wire to hold the horizontal post to the two you have in the ground. and you can have head to head gun fights that leave you both alive and kicking for another day.. this is a great drill.. Hamp you can do this cheap, 3 T posts, pair of dikes, targets, and bailing wire..
I can guarantee it will make the kids think the wee is for Sissy's..

the four shooters thing either, I've been scratching my head over that for the last 10 minutes. I like your idea better as I don't have a lot of room in my car for a monster like this one and T posts don't take up much room.

like that at a local gun range here. except it has 4 plates on each side of each one. you race to 4 hits. you only shoot at one side of one of the stands. the ones here are painted different collors and stick out a bit farther from the center of the stand than this one but same basic idea.
by the MFG, if there was four shooters involved, someone would be dead!

besides being safer than that whole facing each other thing.. you drive the t post in just far enough to get it out easy... wire on the cross T.. and just hang an even number of anything from beer cans to actual metal plates.. plates are best of course as they ring out and are the perfect size.. paper targets dont work as well as you can't get a read on who hit first.. this really is a great training aid, and a LOT of fun.. ok no dddddd's but tired.. night my friends.

You say 'someone is going to be eating some hot brass'. Great!! Just think, that would be good training, hav'n hot brass goin down yer neck!! Bet you wouldn't feel it in a gun fight!!
I had some hot .22 pistol brass get over my glasses against my cheek, it made a blister!!
If you know of a welding shop or burn shop, they might sell some 1/2" scrap plate for cheep. Maby have some round scrap all ready cut, even other scraped shapes.???????

When one shooter gets 'em all to one side he is the winner. The plates move to the other side when hit.

4 shooters. unless one person is trying to keep the other person from completing his goal.

Not 4 shooters...
greg az
why do you suppose they said that about 4 shooters at one time .. this one throws me.. you know they proof read it...
CharlesW
you would have to have 2 teams of 2 shooters
but someone is going to be eating some hot
brass even with 2 shooters
