Ruger MP9 submachine gun The Ruger MP9 submachine gun was introduced in 1995. It's design and appearance is similar to the IMI Uzi. The MP9 was designed as a compact weapon for law enforcement forces and can be considered as an improved Uzi. However this weapon unlike it's predecessor was produced in very limited numbers.
The MP9 fires from the closed bolt rather than blowback operated Uzi. This feature significantly increased weapon's fire accuracy.
The MP9 submachine gun has fire mode selector with safe, single shot and full-auto modes. However it hasn't got grip safety features that have been utilized with Uzi.
Submachine gun has a quickly detachable barrel. Some parts are made from polymer to save weight. Various front grips are available. One more difference comparing with it's predecessor is a redesigned folding stock.
