I know SKS is just a dumbed down cheap decendant of an AK, but I did have this one modified.
I had a gunsmith bore out the bottom of the breach where the 30 round clip would actually work.
(i hated reloading after 10 shots, although I do admit the stripper clips were fun to use)
And I added the after market folding stock, which helps when its on my back.

You are mistaken. The SKS was built before the AK was, 1943.

traderjac I was going to point that out...........but I'm tired of repeating myself.

I know it was made before the AK, but the AK holds popularity better, so people tell me "get a real AK and stop trying to make an SK-AK" But I went toe to toe with a friend who had a Russian AK, and mine was more accurate at 300 yards..so I think I'd rather have mine. (could be operator error, i know, but let me have this)

Actually, my mom bought it for me, but I gave her the money because I was too young at the time. I loved that thing. I could get 20 rds of 123 gr HP ammo for 2.50. I terrorized everything from coyotes to frogs with that thing.
I discovered something amazing with my SKS. If you can sneak up on a bullfrog in a cow pond that is sitting right at the water's edge, because of the steerp angle of most cow ponds, you can shoot from almost directly above them. When the round goes through them, the energy makes the geyser of water that throws their bodies so high in the air that the sound of the round dies out completely before they smack back onto the ground or water. Nice? No. i was a teenager in rural Missouri. It was either that, ride bulls, or cook meth.
