I was only eligable (due to flight hours) for the combat aircrew, or CAC as we usta call it in ASW lingo a couple of times. Have no idea what happened to all my original stuff that i sorta pilfered from the Navy. (thinking the statute of limitations is out on this, but if im gone in a couple of days will know the NSA is listening (which they probabley are as were sorta concervative around here) Did i read you retired from Alison. We had the T10 turbo props on our P-3's and i think we used the Alison generator on our P-2's as well. By the way, the color is wrong on the wings but dont think most know..or care for that matter.. All geezer stuff today.
I do hope everyone read the posts about vet's saluting the colors now as opposed to the hand over heart protocol. Thats an honor i think we'll all take advantage of.

I was with VP-26 outa Brunswick. Did a bit of flight engineer, but mostly radio, as the FE position was pretty much all taken. Funny thing was i could type (remember TTY's) but no charley wiskey. so not a good radioman. Sorry i can't remember where 9,1, and 4 were stationed. We were always deployed durring winter so Brunswick was good duty.. It was all good duty to be honest, with the exception of operation market time, where we lost two CAC's.

mostly south china sea stuff, but we did Rota spain, and Keflivic (spdthefouthat) Iceland. Pretty cool in Rota, we hosted a reserve sqd. out of ebears territory, they were still flying P-2's so spent some time with the old 2turn2burn Neptunes. Telling you that front seat is a trip. your suspended out in front of the bird, surounded by plexiglass, and one of the most beautiful sights ive ever seen was flying along the coast in the med. I spent more time playing than working in those days, but that memory will always stay with me. Guys i gota go, wife is yelling at me.. later.
Yeah im P.whooped, as they say, so what.. I'm PROUD whooped! later

Whidbey Island but we moved to Barbers Point HI and 4 was at Barbers. No cold weather for this kid! 9 deployed to Sangley Point PI, 1 to Iwakuni Japan and Camrahn Bay RVN and 4 deployed to LBFM town, Olongapo City.
I did photog, relief F/E & radio and pilot when we were minimum crew transiting but of course the big guy (PPC) handled everything but straight and level.

Had to get off and curious to see what else was said, I was never lucky enough or full time crew member enough either to get to sit in the right seat. I know CAC FE would occasionaly take the wheel when it high and straight.. Usually coming back from on station, but i never got the chance.
Ever spend any time at pax river. I usta get on the flight list down there when i first got out of a school, think this was b school, anyway i could always get hours doing a flight called FAM1, so did a number of them, and never real impressed with the flights.. rough, and hard landings. etc. One day i find out that the FAM1 stood for familuration flight one.. first time the new pilot had flown a P-3.. No wonder!.. That was the last of the FAM1 flights for me.

I have an Alison transmision (equal opertunity mispeller) are they made by the same firm? gota go, will be on later to check the answer.

Teledyne-Ryan Aeronautical we were building Apache helicopters, Teledyne was also mfg Waterpick shower massages. My guess is yes, your Allison transmission prolly built by a sub of the A/C engine builder.
