LOL, I bet yer wearin a damn T shirt, aint ya?
The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!
he became president after McKinley was assassinated. Roosevelt was 43 at the time. This was a time when the USA was emerging as a world power. One of the things he did was send the Navy around the world. Congress opposed this display of force, so Roosevelt said, OK, I have enough money on my own to send them half way around; you find the money to bring them back. he actually died at 61. Scary thought for us old guys, but he accomplished more in his 61 years than most of us have in ours.
A great book on him is "Theodore Rex" by Edmund Morris, Random House, 2001, 784pp.
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke
He also wrote "The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt", I think. It's kind of dry, but not bad.
The unfortunate truth I think is that truly good men, people who have the potential to be great leaders, avoid running for the high office because people who have true character would rather not put their loved ones through the kind of intense scrutiny that occurrs when you're in the spotlight.

Yep Schuy, sadly, a man like that couldn't get enough votes to be Mayor nowdays.
