Crew cab models fit behind the second seat and are much narrower. The cool thing is that they are completely concealed. Someone looking in the cab wouldn't even be aware of the compartment. However, you sacrifice fast access.

is good. Access should be fast enough. I figure you could retrieve the rifle and be locked and loaded in under 10 seconds, which is good enough for the scenarios I'm imagining.

I'm trying to decide between a nice AR, or a cheap SKS with a bunch of strippers (not chip and dales, ebear). A pretty cheap yugo SKS will do the trick in most cases...but the AR is lighter, more versatile and has higher mag cap.
