Uncles 1939-German Bayonet, but ss used for a boot knife

Uncles 1939-German Bayonet, but ss used for a boot knife

Uncle in Germany during ww2, killed an ss-officer With his own boot knife, there was a little leather strap inside boot that held the 39, model Bayonet, but only for ss officers who did not carry a rifle that much. Guy walked in his front door and my uncle and three others were already in the house he had. All were hiding and he sat right in a stuffed chair that Uncle was behind, so as soon as he took one boot off and put it next to side of chair, then put knife in strap, Uncle slit his throat with ss guys own Bayonet. Sneaky and smart, both sides. But Germans thought they were invincible, Uncle used to tell me all the time.

Good story. That would be pretty intense to get close enough to use a bayonete/knife. I have a 98k with a SS stamp that I traced to a camp in Steyr Austria. It has a bayonete as well.

Sorry, I am soooo late and for getting pissed and not understanding you. I do now and want it behind us if you can see fit to it, It's funny the Bayonet, and the Gun must be neat. But the Bayonet and SS were a different breed I guess, I used to have a 41 luger,ss 32cal semi-auto, and gave it too my brother to hold and keep. It gave me the creeps, because my same Uncle took it off a SS-Officer at a prison camp, trying to shoot as many jews as he could before we got him and their records. Some Jews were used to keep the records of their own kind and how they died and how efficently, etc. He shot this German in the head while he had already shot about 8 Jews and more were lined up. But when he shot, at the same time he said, at least 5 guys from his outfit shot too, and all in the face. He said and cried when he talked that he wanted us boys to remember what man is capabable of doing to his fellow man. Then he never spoke of it again, at least not in front of us boys, untill he died. But I hated that Gun being in my house, John

But that is an awesome story and cool blade. SS man got what he deserved. And what an awesome way to kill a SS by using his own blade against him. Thats museum quality right there if I say so my self.

Funny you said that, about museum. ISD may have heard of the guy who has been collecting home movies and memoralbilia and started a ww2 museum. He called me and offered me an amount of money, but I told him no for now, but he knew about SS officers doing that Boot trick then. He called me really though because of my dad's stuff, that my Mom has & will not give up. Untill she dies at least and she will instruct us 6 that are left what to do with all his old movies, and still pictures with all the big shots he had to meet and deal with. A lot of the stuff was top-secret and he could not even bring home from the base during & after ww2, for a while. We saw some of them, with" IKE" Eisenhower, as general and top commander of all allied forces. There are just so many. But this Museum guy hounded me for 6 months, and it wasn't untill I told him that when my Mom passes, and that is when the lord sees fit. Will you have a shot at his films and paperwork on the rail system of aircraft carriers, & the Bungee chord stop for planes, if allowable by pentagon, and Mom. That is funny, huh, my mom over pentagon ! John

Thats amazing my friend. The only thing that my family has from the time my papaw was in WWII is the Type 99 Rifle that my uncle has and a few pictures. The medals he earned have been lost due to my other uncles ex wife. I wont go in to details but for lack of a better word she was a bitch. Forgive me for saying that my friend but I cant think of any other way to put it.

But anyways John I cannot tell you what to do with the stuff but I suggest you never sell the stuff. WWII stuff such as the knife above and anything else is an important piece of history not only is it WWII History but its also family history.

Thats just my thoughts my friend.

No I was given the I think Bayone/ knife for ss in Boots from uncle, who was in the airborne that were droped behind enemy lines and totalled suprised these Germans who thought they were safe, but without there help, the war would have went on a lot longer. They were able to commubicate valuable information to our guys on the outside about artillery positions, and he felt they finnally broke the germans spirit of thinking they were invincible. They actually were acting like it was a job for them and going home at night and taking it easy. Surprise! Americans are here. But Baston , or battle of the Bulge was the worst he said, and did not know why or how he lived, the cold was unbelievable, and they had foxholes and would get pushed back and germans would takethe same holes and they were pushed back, and it went on it seemed like forever he said. But the Germans when took the holes would shit in them before they left, and not knowing it pissed the us guys off so much that they toughed it out. Strange what pisses men off and makes them move forward huh.
