in hawaii a loaded magazine in your car is a felony,you can have hi capacity mags,but you can only load them with 5 at a time on the range,according to my buddy who lives there.

alaska probably has a better mindset for law than texas(no offense to texans)loaded open carry of handguns,if its under your jacket they don't consider that concealed,they say your protecting your gun from weather.i believe you can have loaded long guns in the car but not sure there

I don't consider Maine part of New England over all. You get out in the middle of No Where and it's totally different than in town like in Bangor.
They've had plenty of Son's and Daughter's show up when the call to War went out. They were damn good at it too, let a Maine hunting Guide loose with his weapon of choice on your tail in the tall timber and I'd be more than a bit worried...
But, yeah, in the Cities, they are pretty much snobbish, morons. But for the most part those people are not from Maine to begin with, they are well to do from down in New York who visit and then buy up the land around the lakes and such and put up fences and no trespassing signs. Or private road signs, even though they don't own the damn thing or maintain it.
I actually had some dumb shit out in the woods behind my grandparents come up on me while I was out Partridge hunting the last time I went hunting. Told me I was trespassing and he should call the Police on me and have me charged, probably confiscate my shotgun too.
I looked at him and laughed hard then explained my Family had owned the land from the side and behind the house all the way out to the CC Road and back again out to A1A. He just shut up and walked off as I called to him if he wanted me to call the Police and have him charged with Trespassing...
Idiot Yorker, had moved in and bought a small corner of land from Moana Haight (Hat) a few years before.
But, yeah, don't figure Maine is commie in the least except for the weeds...

Same thing in Texas. I'm seeing all kind of transplants from Cali, Michigan, Illinois, Colorado, New York, New Jersey, etc. flooding the area. Well, DFW anyway.
I figure it's one of two things (probably some mix of both):
1.) They're right-minded decent folk sick of their state's socialism and want to move somewhere better.
2.) They're socialist pieces of human waste that have fucked their state with their ignorance and have come here to take advantage of the jobs and low cost of living. Probably not even getting that the reason living here is so good is because we have less socialism and more liberty.
I hope for the former, but the way the election results have been going, it's looking like more of the latter.

Most times when I was younger the fights I ended up in were with Yankee's who thought they could run their mouths with impunity. They could say something about your sister, or mother and not have to worry because they would just call a Cop.
Thing is, Southern Hospitality is always given as required. Hell, they grew up thinking that sticks and stones saying was for real, down here we learned the things you can get you broken and the things you say and or do can get you broken much worse.
always cracked me up, brought my sons up the same way, daughter too. You can pretty much say anything you like about any of them, but you talk ill of their mom? watch out, or if you attempt to put your hands on one of them? not a good idea. If you happen to beat one down? there are more to keep looking over your shoulder for always from that point on.
Easy going, friendly, helpful and your worse mistake if you make them hate you...
Way I see it, there is right and there is wrong, not much gray in between on the things that really matter. If someone moves to another State, they probably should attempt to become a part of what drew them to it, not to change it to be where they came from, and don't try to brow beat the locals into their line of thinking as if they are too ignorant to have clear, logical thoughts on the way things should be, or be ready to roll in the dirt is you happen to make them feel you are calling them stupid.. LOL

People with that mentality do like to over-complicate that which should be simple. And of course they like to look down on people like us as being overly-simple.
But they are oblivious that they are inserting complications/complexity necessarily. I get that, in most things, there are many shades of gray and many facets, but to take that further, to believe that EVERYTHING is multifaceted and there are NO black-and-white issues is more ignorant.
You're spot on about their illusions of impunity, as well. Kind of like the little yip dog behind a fence or on a leash. Really tough when they know they are protected. When exposed, not so much. I really miss the days of community self-policing. Envision this, bunch of guys in the community kicking the shit of some shit-talking, disrespectful asshole. Sheriff walks up. "What'ch you boys doing, shit-stompin' this poor feller?". "Well, sir, this here shithead's been running around talking shit and disrespectin' folks." "Well, why didn't you call me sooner?" Takes off badge and slips it in his pocket. "Let's get to finishing the job."

determined what ppl could get by with. If a man's canoe tipped over near a beach full of families he'd be well advised to cuss under his breath.
Last year or maybe the year b4 such a thing happened, the man with the canoe started screaming "fuck", everyone on the beach and prolly the next county could hear him. Cops came, chilled him for disturbing the peace.
The "fuck" screamer sued and won claiming freedom of speech. Sorry but some asshole judges have made a mistake. On the federal level freedom of speech IS protected but at state and local levels speech is supposed to conform to community standards.
It all boils down to the original intent of the Constitution. It limits the power of the federal govmnt not communities or states.
Not sure but I feel like someone is going to want to argue with me about that LOL!!!

I have to admit (ashamedly) I am guilty of this as well. It's no excuse, I know that, but I have gotten too comfortable with the swearing. Mainly because no one call's me on my bad behavior. Again, not an excuse, but it's a contributing factor. Too many times have I let loose freely and realized there were little ones around. Felt small as can be, but the damage done.
Ironically, one of the few times someone actually asked me to watch my mouth was at the gun range. I naturally apologized and controlled myself at that point.

but I am a tyrant when it comes to the g-kids language. I've found that the use of my colorful language has alienated me from folks that thought listening to my sewer-grade language was not worth it.
The kids would prolly faint if I cut loose with some courseness but I won't.

That said, respecting those around me at any given moment is mostly what prompts my communication style.
At the Range, with the guys, we speak openly and how we feel like. If a lady shows up, we speak as if there is a lady present.
Same with kids and such.
Gramps was a Sailor in WWII, lol... I've heard some odd things come out of him at times in the past.
Grams saying when pissed at someone was "Son of a Whore"... LOL

Sunday we were walking through the park down town after my wife and I had left the Museum. 3 boys around 20 - 23 were walking behind us talking about whores, screwing and shouting fuck and such. My wife had a death grip on my arm while repeating over and over to not say anything, let it go and stuff.
We sat down on a bench to let them get past us and up the way. They decided to stand about 15 feet from us while one was on this cell phone speaking with some girl. He kept asking how nasty she was and telling her about what he wanted to do to her and her to him.
I finally turned and looked straight at the bigger of them and told him flat out, get up the road. I stopped here to let them pass because if I heard much more of their mouths I was going to jail and all I wanted to do was spend the day with my wife.
He didn't say a thing, pulled the sleeve of the one on the phone and told the other, Lets go...
Not sure if it was the look in my eyes, my voice and how quiet I said it to just him or the look on my wifes face imploring him to leave...
Respect has no meaning to many these days and it is a sad thing too, because that is one of the building blocks of a civil society which they all claim they seek and desire. Yet, it is what they demand in spades and give only when forced for the most part.

I understand why it happened. People worried about where to draw the line. But, for Christ sake's, what happened to trusting common sense? Bad shit will happen and people will have a departure of good judgement, but that's where the rest of us keep us all in line.
Seems everybody is afraid of mob rule, so they want everything spelled out to the letter. I've said many times that the only reason a lot of people are alive is because it's illegal to kill them.
