"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled,
public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be
tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should
be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to
work, instead of living on public assistance."
- Cicero - 55 BC

It's just amazing that things that are simple truths have been evident to men and women of intelligence for millenia, but have continually been ignored through all the ages of man.

SamD--I think you are being a little harsh and pesimistic. The leaders of the US revolution were well aware of this sage knowledge. It is us who are betraying the wisdom of Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, Adams, and their contemporary signers of the DoI and creators of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. That's right--WE the people, have betrayed them, and by doing so we are betraying ourselves, our families, our posterity, and we are risking the destruction of the greatest Constitutional Republic ever created on this earth.
But I have faith that this November, we are going to start restoring the original value system, and begin a return to sanity and intelligence. We must have faith that we will achieve this kind of future, but we also must know it is going to be hard work.
Who would have thought that the People of the United States could have been so gullible as to have bought the story of a person whose real claim to "fame" was being an expert at the shell game, snake oil sales and community organizing!?
