Had plenty of CVA time. The only time this would ever possibly be allowed is during a "Shellback" initiation. That's when they cross the equator and have an initiation and then a big ass bar b que.Otherwise during NON-flight ops, on a regular work day, there would be no fucking way the Air Boss would put up with this!

Since I and probably you, Things are very different. Hell AFTER I got out, they stopped letting E-1 thru E-4 have facial hair. Too funny. I used to have some (lotsa) fun at officers expense when I was in. I swear to God no one got physically hurt, crossing my heart and hope to die!!!

Look at the left engine of the right jet. It looks active to me, in which case the pool has been inserted. I never served on a carrier, but from what I understand, they will sometimes allow the crew to swim by jumping off the hanger deck. No need for a pool when the ship is sitting in one.

The angle is not good so you can't tell precisely where it is. Your only clue is the island, which on all CVNs is at the starboard rear of the ship. A plane landing would be in that precise location as it hit the deck. And you still have to explain the yellow 'flame' in that left engine. Nobody would be allowed on the flight deck in swim trunks.
