The White House issues infuriating statement on border security
Obama fiddles while border burns
APFollowing last weekend’s murder of Arizona rancher Rob Krentz by an illegal alien, Gov. Jan Brewer (R-AZ) made another request for troops to be sent to the border. It was the fifth time in 18 months that she has asked President Obama to deploy troops to her state, along the embattled U.S./Mexican border.
Despite the growing violence, all of her requests have gone unanswered.
On Wednesday, reporter Steve Nunez of Tucson’s KGUN9 News began making calls to the White House.
Nunez asked the following questions:
-What is the President's stance on sending troops to the border?
-Why has his administration simply ignored the requests from Arizona's governor?
-What does the President have to say to Arizona citizens and politicians who are now renewing that call and asking for his help?
Late Thursday evening, the White House responded.
White House spokesman Adam Abrams issued the following statement to Nunez: “The President is firmly committed to ensuring our borders are secure. It is why the Administration has taken important steps – including deploying additional law enforcement resources to reduce illegal flows across the border and supporting Mexico's efforts against drug trafficking organizations. We are carefully monitoring the situation and will continue to ensure that we are doing everything necessary to keep communities along the Southwest border safe.”
Are you kidding?!!
If the President was “firmly committed to ensuring our borders are secure.” the military would already be stationed along the border and Rob Krentz would still be with his family tonight.
Furthermore, stating that the White House is “carefully monitoring the situation,” is Washington-speak for “shut up and go away!”
The only thing more maddening than the White House’s empty rhetoric is the fact that the President does not have the courtesy to even issue a response to Governor Brewer after a year and a half, but can give one to a reporter after a day and a half.
It is painfully obvious that under no circumstances will Obama defend this nation.
