M249 LMG, we call it a SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon). It replaced the heavy-barrel M16 used as a squa machine gun. We have one of these per three-man team in the MPs, the infantry has one per four-man Fire Team. It's a lot of fun when it works, but it's very picky about where the belt is when you close the top cover and prone to malfunctions. I think the bolt is entirely too small for such a high rate of fire and the fact that it fires from an open bolt, but what do I know?
ryo remember hearing about this on the Pentagon news show a few weeks ago that a deal has been reached with FN Herstal to replace the M249 with the FN Mini mi squad machine gun. gosh that company makes a lot of money off our country neh.
are the same weapon. Minimi is an older vaiant. The M249 is made by FN. I've heard of possibilities of a replacement, but I doubt it'll happen any time soon.
but even so we do spend a lot of money with FN Herstal neh
The M249 and the M240 are both made by FN. I'm sure there are other things as well, but those are the only two I know of that I have used. They definitely get a huge amount of our money.
this is the new 40mm grenade launcher that is stand alone or can be attach to the M16, M4 and the H&K 416 and 417. it is also manufacture by FN Herstal and the Pentagon recently placed an order for 4450 of them.
XM320 is manufactured by H&K, not FN. I haven't fired one yet,
but I'm looking forward to it.
