My Grandad shot anti aircraft guns on the USS Gunston Hall during the war. There toward the end he would tell stories of the Kamikaze getting so close you could see the pilots facial expressions before the the guns would rip the plane apart. He also said the deck would be littered with parts of the plane and the pilots.
I'm not real familiar with jap guns in WW2, but I know an M2 when I see one and that gun is an M2 .50 minus the top cover and back plate.
