like this shotgun very much, and for a novice this gun will be all you ever need "in-house".
Performance: 9
I have a small home and have run this shotgun many times over to find any weak points in our house. i have fired it in closed quarters to understand the loudness and the gun is not as loud as you might expect. just a great home defence weapon..

my loving wife is sixty-two years old and a slighty built women who never handled a shotgun before now. she is able to load the gun and fire it without any tiredness or timidness.as i have already stated the gun is great in close quaters and very user friendly. NOW for me this gun is a feather that i just wip around the house. I read somewhere that a home-defence weapon should be practiced in the home just like you would practice a fire alarm. I beleave that to be true. i have not brought up the issue of children only because my children have all lift the home. but his weapon is so user friendly that i beleve someone as young as 15 would have no problem ...with proper instruction. as a first gun purchase this mossberg fits the bill and then some.
