AK-47 Rifle Review

The legendary AK-47 Rifle - a name that strikes fear and admiration to many gun enthusiasts around the world. From its humble beginnings in Soviet Union in the late 40s, the rifle has been associated with gun battles that everyone just wants to forget. But even after more than 50 years, AK-47 still exists and even pushes for more variations.

Performance

I was always fascinated with the rifle but never had the courage to own one. But after the incessant encouragement of my peers, I finally mustered to purchase this legendary rifle. I opted to have a derivative (imitation for some) and purchased the AK-47 WASR 10. This is a Romanian variant and costs around $300-$350 in the market today.

Let me clear on this: AK-47 WASR 10 is illegal in some states (California) so before approaching any gun shops, check with your local authorities if you can actually own one.

Features

With that said, the AK-47 WASR-10 is probably one of the best variants for this rifle. This Romanian version doesn’t place a hole in your wallet but any gun enthusiast will easily enjoy handling this type of gun. The rifle has the same barrel length with the original AK-47 so you’ll practically have the same experience of the original.

After a few tweaks and required cleaning with the new WASR 10, it’s off to the firing range for me. AK-47 is not necessarily a rifle that prides itself to be accurate but I was still impressed with the results. The ergonomic body of the WASR 10 makes it very easy to handle which might have contributed to the accuracy. The weight of WASR 10 is also the same as the original (4.3kgs). You’ll be surprised how the weight actually contributes to the stability. But be careful: the rifle is relatively stronger than expected. Start with 10 rounds or even less to gradually allow your body to adjust to the strength of AK-47 WASR 10. If you can muster 20 rounds without any trouble in aim, you can say you already tamed your AK-47 WASR 10.

Appeal

AK-47 WASR 10 is a highly recommended rifle for many gun enthusiasts. It’s very reliable, easy to handle and friendly to the pocket.

I don’t want to sound negative but there are things in AK-47 WASR 10 that requires some tweaking. Out of the box, the rifle can perform but if you want to improve the rifle’s performance and looks, here are some parts that you should check: Checking the gas block – there are few WASR 10 owners that complained about the slightly bended gas block. Fixing this problem is very easy but should be noted anyway to avoid future trouble. Wiring – make sure the wire is sturdy as some could be a little bit loose and will cause some parts to dislodge. Sights – it may be possible that you’ll receive a WASR 10 with canted sights. This can be easily fixed after purchase. Finish - the finish of AK-47 WASR 10 is also a little bit rough but a simple clean-up should make the rifle look great.
