why didn't america kidnap klashnikov so we would have these weapons issued to us instead of used against us. The rifle is awsome for urban or jungle tactics. its long barrel and short buttstock makes it fast for bringing the rifle from the ready position to action position. the caliber makes it easy to go through engine block, brick wall or even some body armor. its eay to field srtip design is the best i have ever seen. the simplicity of design make swapping parts off the dead guy a plus. there are so many after market parts out the there that u can make a four hundred dollar pawn shop special to a eight hundred dollar work of art or even a thousand dollar terror spreader. the trigger pull is slightly heavy from the factory but they make triggers jobs to fix that. the sight are that of an sks but they make stuff to fix that. availibility of the ammo is getting tighter. you can still get magazines at any pawn shop, gun show or off the dead guy next to you. the weapon is lightweight so light that a five year old can use it agaisnt you in other countries.

Accuracy?

Where do you guys all get these random numbers for accuracy, The AK-47 is a weapon made for killing men. Out of all the Ak's I've ever had I've never had a problem hitting a man sized target at 300 meters consistently.

Your lucky to hit anything out to 200 yards with the 7.62x39. Every test that has been done shows this.

maybe every discovery channel test uploaded to youtube. the accuracy of a machine and the ability to shoot or get the same sight picture through poorly designed iron sights are two completely different things.

From any military grade AK you can expect about 4 MOA or BETTER (perhaps MUCH better). Which is to say, roughly, that it will shoot about 4" groups for each 100 yards. That's 4" at 100, 8" at 200, 12" at 300, so on so forth. The best AKs that I know of, real assault rifle AKs and not the "sniper" variants, shoot 1-1.5 MOA. Those would be your AK 100s, 103s, and 74s (modern variants of the AK-47). Siaga (Russian military supplier's "sporting" division) is the most notable brand, but I have heard reports from Bulgarian 74s and 103s that rival these.
Now, when you consider that most of these quality AKs will consistently maintain 2 MOA or better, and the "kill zone" on a person, or deer, is easily a 10" circle, then one can deduce that they are accurate enough to put a man, or deer, down out to 300 yards with 4" of room for error, out to 400 with 2" of room, 500 with no room. Again, that is on the worst military grade rifles.

No, AKs are not precision rifles, but they are certainly good enough to do the job out to 400 yards or so in the harshest conditions.

The point is that most rifles are more accurate than most shooters. The accuracy of a shot is more dependent, in most cases, on the ability of the shooter than the rifle.

but will add that its not too hard to hit a torso sized target consistently at 300m with an sks or fairly accurate AK with iron sights
