It does real good in performance,but has a tendency to open when you pull the trigger. It has decent power with small shots such as the Remington Squirrel Shot/Bird Shot. And has more than enough power with 2 3/4 and 3 inch slugs.

Appeal
In the appeal department.It has a wonderful antique look and is wonderful to have for practice. Makes a good gun for possibly home defense if thats the only 12 gauge you have.
Summary
The Iver Johnson is a cheaply made 12 gauge shotgun. It has a good overall look though.I have shot one myself and had a good time with it.But they are many down sides to it.

It has the power and good feel but is unreliable when hunting. I do not recommend this gun for hunting unless you have a lot of confidence in your aim. The IJ is a good gun for practice or just for shooting for the heck of it.The one I shot is called the Champion. I liked it but on several occasions it opened when I pulled the trigger,causing the bullet to ejct while it was being fired.The IJ is good for a home trophy as well. In closing I say to all IJ champion owners. Make sure the gun is suitable for shootin. Let your local gunsmith check it before firing.

what do you think of my first gun review? I dont know if I done well or not. But I tried. Hope you like it. This is the first time I have ever wrote a gun review so I will try and get better at it. I will try and post more when I shoot different guns. I got one or two more ill write here in a few minutes.
