Marlin Camp 45 is a highly popular carbine from the 80s. Although production of Carbine stopped in 1999, it's still a very popular gun as you see them in various forums and featured by some hunters. It's light, highly efficient for various purposes as it can be used for small game hunting but can be lethal for defensive purposes.

Performance: 8.3

The gun is also a very handy carbine because the total length is only 35½" with the barrel size of 16½". Anyone can effectively handle this type of gun, even the inexperienced. One of the biggest reasons why Marlin Camp 45 is very popular is the use of .45 cartridges. This means your pistols that have the same cartridge should be handled well by the Marlin Camp. Since its self loading, you should be able to experience continuous firing of up to 10 rounds. You can reduce the capacity to eight rounds with the appropriate magazine.

Features: 8.5

Another reason why gun enthusiasts enjoy using Marlin Camp is the direct blow-back function. The gun is a semi-automatic carbine which means it will give single shot fires. While there are many advantages a user can enjoy from Marlin Camp 45, there are some things that need attention every now and then. First is the recoil spring. The recoil spring that comes with the gun is not the best recoil spring you will have. This can have serious repercussions if the recoil spring is broken. Instead of the generic script, use wolfsprings so that you should be able to have a strong yet affordable recoil string. A bad recoil string will not only have stronger recoil but the powder that did not fire might spray in your face. The opening of the bolt might also slow during firing which might delay the firing process.

Appeal: 8.7

Last but not the least, the ability of Marlin Camp to use standard pistol magazines does not mean you should be able to use every magazine for hand guns. Only use standard magazines so that the magazine can easily slide in and out. Since you'll have to use the standard magazine, spend a little bit more on quality magazine so that you should be able to have a good Marlin Camp with reliable shooting. Marlin Camp may have its drawbacks on some of its parts, but it's still a good carbine. It's light, reliable and can be used in any condition.

A strong carbine should be able to push the shooter because of recoil. However, the gun uses direct blowback which prevents strong recoil.

Another part of the Marlin Camp 45 that you should take care is the recoil bumper. The standard recoil bumper of Marlin Camp is good but you can have something better that will improve the performance of gun especially in supporting the recoil springs.

These parts have to be constantly replaced depending on the frequency in firing. But it's good to stack on recoil springs and recoil bumper so that you'll have a spare and can change the parts at will.
