Say the name Remington to any gun enthusiast and you'll most likely hear stories after stories on how Remington has given them the performance they wanted every time.
Performance: 8.6
A leader in the firearms industry, Remington has been manufacturing firearms for more than 190 years (and counting). It's almost impossible to think when was the time Remington didn’t became a part of anyone's recollection about guns.
Features: 8.8
This review is about the Remington 870 Express. If you're a gun enthusiast for at least one year, you might have come across this shotgun online and the glowing reviews it has garnered. Yes, I also have one of those classic Remington 870s (20 gauge) and I didn't remember misfiring the said shotgun. Look for reviews online and all you see will be approval and endless tales who they started with a Remington 870 and stayed with the shotgun for decades.
Appeal: 8.6
For those who are looking for complaints about this shotgun - the complaints are still the same. Remington could have done a better job in manufacturing a better finish and a non-wood handle option for those who are not at ease with a wooden grip. But that's just a small trade-off to what you would get - a small, highly reliable Remington 870 12-gauge shotgun. Generally, most gun enthusiasts will be thrilled to have this shotgun but the fun doesn't stop when you add the XS Ghost Ring sight. With an additional sight system on your Remington 870, you'll be a pro in no time.

This review will be focused on the "small brother" of Remington 870 Express - the 870 Express Compact Tactical Shotgun. It's a 12-gague shotgun with 7-round capacity. The gun features 18.5" in barrel length and weights almost 8lbs. The gun could be considered as mid-range in length (38.5") but still a lot shorter than other 870 models.
As expected, the gun is very convenient to use. I asked my friend who is a non-Remington user to try the shotgun for a day during our hunting and he was really impressed the way the gun could be handled. It's short enough to fit in your shoulder for support and has that classic pump sound of a shotgun that creates additional excitement during hunting.
On my end, I was particularly interested in the gun's new feature: the XS Ghost Ring sight. It's a small add-on on the top of the trigger before the pump. It can't be easily noticed from a distance but it will considerably improve your aim. The XS Ghost Ring sights are added to the rail which is fully adjustable which means it's not just a bland add-on. You can actually use this sight and expect to improve your aim. Adjustments based on wind and elevation could be implemented in this particular sight. But the best part is actually what's not there…yet. The XS Ghost Ring allows you to integrate additional sight systems. Although I'm not aware which sight system can actually be part of this small add-on, it will most likely adapt to popular sight systems in the market.
