Ruger P95DC Gun Review

Ruger firearms are known to be manufacturers of inexpensive yet very reliable firearms. Although their handguns will never win you over with their looks, it will easily attract those who need a gun that will perform when needed without any qualms.

Performance

To be specific, the P series of handguns from Ruger will definitely never win in any competition when the major category is on the looks. But a gun's efficiency is not necessarily based on how the gun looks like and Rugers is banking on this feature in order to persuade gun owners to purchase their guns.
The Ruger P95DC is the first handgun to be released in P95 series. Some websites and gun stores simply call this as P95 especially when there are no other P95 versions sold. But when there are other versions of P95, the DC is added to indicate the gun's difference. Basically, the P95DC is the first pistol that did not use an aluminum frame. The manufacturer opted to use fiberglass instead which makes the pistol a lot lighter compared to other P series pistols. The slide is still stainless steel and they come in silver. The gun is never furnished which makes it a little bit unappealing but, as already indicated, Rugers is not trying to win any competition based on looks. In fact, the rugged features of Ruger P95DC has some advantages. The gun doesn't look clean but it practically sticks to your hand. You'll never have any trouble holding the gun and will never slip even though it's a lot lighter than other P series guns.

Features

The gun's size is not too small and not too large (99mm Barell, 765grams). It's a single action/ double action that can work well with 9mm caliber. With this caliber you can have 15 rounds in its default cartridge. One thing you should remember is that the first shot will always require an extra squeeze from your trigger. This is barely noticeable but if you work with the gun for a few rounds, you'll slowly notice the difference. The sight is not highly noticeable but you can still have an aim if you lift the gun in the right angle. Unfortunately, the sight makes the gun a little bit challenging to use competitive shooting because of its limitations.

Appeal

Ruger P95DC has stood in the middle of efficiency and pricing to appeal to more customers.

The best part of Ruger P95DC is actually in its price. This pistol rarely goes beyond $300 which is a great deal compared to other recognized brands that price their pistols to as much as $500. But the price of the pistol did not diminish the quality of the gun. P95DC will still work as expected and highly comparable to great pistols without the price.

To sum it up, the P95DC is great everyday gun that can help you in times of need. It may not look like a really threatening gun and it sometimes feel cheap (blame the fiberglass frame) but it is a powerful pistol that can be used for personal protection.
