I bought one of these guns for my son when he was seven. At first, his little hands couldnt quite pull back the cocking piece so i tied a string on it so he could get a better grip.He learned real fast that because he couldnt fire and reload too quick that he needed to make every shot count. With the basic no frills open sites,he learned to take his time and make the shot.On the first gun i bought i had shortened the stock to fit his small build, which works because i have 2 other children that will learn with this rifle.I picked up another rifle in the same model but i left the stock at full length of pull which now fits him perfectly. My son shoots a quarter sized group at 50 yards with this gun.Not bad for 8 year old eyes and a gun that was made in 1948.There are a lot of these rifles out there that are a great learning rifle for kids.
