The gun shot just fine...I guess. It is as reliable as everyone says it is. Trust, I actually threw it in the dirt and kicked shit all over it, it fired. Of course, and it fired the 7.62x39mm cartridge where I wanted it to go. This was at 30M. Now I jumped back progressively to the 300M where I can hit a mans head 10 out of 10 times with an M16. I don't believe it was me but I could barely hit center mass on that beast and sometimes wouldn't even hit the target. I have heard so many people talk about how the AK has a bad reputation and the accuracy isn't that bad. So I couldn't take there word for it, I had to see for my self and I got to say people are biased as hell when it comes to this gun. Believe the hype, it is not an accurate weapon. I does feel good to put on full auto though. Dont expect to hit shit, just enjoy the man love it gives you!!!
Features

The features section of this review would have been really short had I not known about the Picatinny rail system you can get for some AK's. So now you can add all those fun gadgets that your favorite AR has on it. Just not as many at one time due to the shortness of the front handgaurds. good adaptation for the AK to be able to pick up on one of the most popular rail systems ever available.
Appeal

The appeal rating can go either way you want it. Its a butt ugly weapon but you have to look and the sight beyond the visual. What I mean by this is you have to see the symbolism behind this iconic weapon. You see a gun in the hands of a little boy you get saddened and you want to scorn the boy. Take that same young boy and shove an AK in his hands and now glorious and gruesome visions of revolution and bloodshed come to mind. These images have been forged and feed to you over so many years of this weapon being shown and used as a cheap and easy tool for revolution. It is a symbol for making a stand. So for the rating I chose to go the high road and base it on its symbolism.
Summary

I have shot the AK and thought of ACME

The biggest thing this rifle has going for it is it's reliability. Now granted, that this is one hell of an important feature for a gun to have. However, a gun can not survive on that feature alone. So I bring up the round it uses which is the 762x39. This round can pierce light armor and take down a person without needing the head/heart/crucial area shot. Going along with all of that, you got to add in the appeal section I wrote about and you got yourself a well rounded weapon. This weapon isn't all roses though. There are other things to consider. Like the fact that if you are carrying a "combat load" of ammunition for it, the amount of rounds you can carry due to available space and weight restraints are going to be less then if you were to be carrying a 5.56 or a 6.8 style weapon. Add the fact that this weapon is horrible for accuracy and looks hideous, you got a choice to make. The price of one of these weapons varies depending on which country made your version of AK but all in all this is a good and "cheap" purchase to have with your collection of guns.

I really enjoyed your review sytasyn_syn. It feels like a really honest review. This is the first of your reviews I've read and I look forward to more.

I would like to hear or read more on the accuracy. Some people that have a custom model swear by its accuracy at 200 yds. I did not make this comment, I am telling you what an owner told me.I would like to hear or read more comments pro and con on this weapon.

to suppress some of the rumors and maybe enlighten you there are millions of those things out there and safe to say a few different companies make them. no doubt the ak is not as accurate as the m16 or variant there of however i have done a few comparision test my self such a poly tech pre ban vs a texas/ romanian post ban ak 47 the preban had a milled reciver
high heat coated bolt(not sure what they use) and a chromolly lined barrel 7/1 twist vs the stamped steel reciver aluminum bolt and steel barrel 5/1 twist of the romanian/ us post ban both using wolf military classic 200 yards head shots poly in the aera with the romanian so its gonna come down to quailty of weapon and manufactuer/ 6.8 weighs less than .5oz less than 7.62

Its a good gun to trust but if you cant hit what your shooting at its useless, its good a QBC goes thru walls like its cool, most Ive got out of AK is 100yds,10rnds,on a bench. All 10 were within 3in,Of couse this has been the same with most Aks I have Shot. And yes I have seen a HEAVLY moded Ak that could Hit targets over 400yrds,but they were Expensive,Allmost Gold plated.
