SJMB, a buddy of mine and I used to troll for carp, but we would use a bow and arrow. More of an excuse to get away from the family and drink beer. I have never seen carp jump like that. Perhaps it is a characteristic of Illinois carp...

my buddy gave me this recepee years ago.he said he's tried a bunch of different ways and this is "THE ONLY WAY TO COOK CARP"!you need aluminum foil,toothpicks, a clean brown paper bag,an orange,lemon peper salt,butter,clove of garlic, and an onion.
preheat oven to 350
chop onion,and finely dice garlic.
slice off about 2-3 1/4" thick slices of orange
lightly sprinkle inside of a whole cleaned fish with salt stuff full of diced garlic,and chopped onion add about 1tbsp of butter for every 6''of fish,squeeze some juice from the orange inside and pin it closed using toothpicks.
liberally add lemon pepper to the whole outside of the fish cover with orange slices wrap tightly in foil and place on top rack of oven for 30-40 min.remove when fish becomes soft.place paper bag on a large platter unwrap fish and set on bag (like you would do with bacon) remove toothpicks from fish and discard.dont forget to recycle the aluminum foil.....
take entire platter to the trashcan,slide the fish into the trash and eat the bag! ENJOY!

What they honestly need to do is drag the damn river with Sain Nets. Release the natives that they can, get rid of the Carp and restock the native fishes.
Florida is now dealing with the damn Snakes, though the news is spreading crap about how it is because of people letting them go. Couldn't have anything to do with the 100+ Pet store Snake Importers destroyed during the Hurricanes. Hell they have King Cobras loose down around Miami and such.

Pretty sure i know that section of the river, summer is water time, and most everyone does some water ski stuff.. Those boys are just flat good.. takes quite a bit of skill to ski WITHOUT all the carp gear.. The carp issue is a new phenomenon, least we never had it in the sixties..

Yep you can eat them, the issue is getting past all the bones, and i've had friends that swear by them.. Never had the patients myself, and never real crazy bout the taste either.. More a matter of why when you can get great Cat.. and the Illinois river has some serious Catfish..
