Gang members have been getting training and experience from the military for decades. The technique of holding the gun sideways was actually a military close kill technique taught with the 1911. The sights on the mil-version being so small, canting the weapon slightly and aiming with the ridge on the right of the slide was taught for close-up targets. The drug organizations here in the south are starting to hire MS-13 gang members to guard their shipments, and many of them are getting combat experience in Iraq or Afghanistan and bringing it back here. MS-13 members are required to get tatoos, but some of the young memebrs are being sent in to the military with no tats so they can learn the new tactics and bringing them back to teach thir buddies. The "moral waivers" allowed when recruiting people for the army are alarming, but the bodies are needed for the deployments. I hate it, but that's how it is. Perhaps if civilians got the word out and contacted their lawmakers, pressure good be put on the DOD to stop these waivers. Background checks can be done, but the only thing that will happen is someone won't get a security clearance. But you don't need one to join the infantry, and that is the job that focuses on combat techniques the most.
If you can't win their hearts and minds, then expose their hearts and minds to open oxygen. WHEN IN DOUBT, THIRTY OUT!!

People like this Reya fag are no better trained than anybody else with access to the military. Military training is no more current than anything you can read in a gun magazine or check out online. The only thing that makes people dangerous is mindset. You notice this fag retreated as soon as the (former army) police officer showed up and started using his own aggressive tactics. Officers are not prepared for bad guys who manuever toward them. The badge gives them the false sense of security and they expect people to retreat when they show up. look at Platt and Matix in 1986 and the two guys (don't know their name) in North Hollywood. As far as I know, none of the four had combat experience, or even military training. It was the aggressive mindset and suppressive fire that allowed them to be as successful as they were. Reya wasn't even a grunt. He didn't even go outside the wire. He was a pouge bitch that wanted a rush. Mindset makes all the difference.

Sad but true, I was the First Sergeant in Arizona and we had to discharge two folks who were gang members (of course, we couldn't do anything until they started getting into trouble). Ultimately, the got discharged for financial problems.
I still think this is a small problem overall, the majority are good folks who stay out of trouble and do their jobs. But, with that said, it's still an issue that should be addressed. I confirm what Runaway wrote...it only affects security clearances. Maybe we should reuqire security clearances for more jobs, including and especially infantry.
