The sick thing

is all of the 68' and 69' Chargers that the destroyed making the series. I remember they went through the whole country buying up all of the Chargers that they could get their hands on. The show ran from 1979 to 1985 and although there is some argument as to how many cars were used, the number is thought to be between 256-321 68' and 69' Chargers with 17 still in various states of repair.

I had a close friend that loved the Dukes and was from Georgia.
It broke his heart when he found out the show was filmed in California

If yall are ever in Murfreesboro TN go see the Dukes museum. Its pretty cool

well shit...

wish i hadn't heard it was filmed in California.. guess it shouldn't be a surprise, but it is..

Rosco was a trip..and hamp the numbers of destroyed general Lees doesn't surprise me.. I wonder what they did to the suspension.. notice how the wheels dont hang down quite as far as a stock one would.. Cant imagine that they would buy real chargers tho.. i figured they would just buy the belvedere or what ever it was and repaint it like a charger..

i was telling ace last night that when ever i dont go to the range i try to at least do some speed loader work... So i got lazy (actually Gloria was dog sick) stayed home so thought id do my speed loader drills... Thanks pard... lol..

You guys have to get a mental image of this.. im wearing a pair of PJ's that the kids had bought me.. in other words the type you wouldn't get caught dead in... plaid and ...will let it go,,lets just say they arent the most masculine looking things... so i get out the J and L frame and strap on the L with a couple of speed loaders...Go over in front of the mirror where i always do the drill.. and break up laughing.. I thought about taking a pic, but was afraid you guys would ask for my man card back so just gave the whole thing up...

Mike hows your teething problems going buddy..

it says that they put somewhere between 500 and 1000 lbs of ballast in the trunk to try and keep the nose up but the trajectory of the car was 'sketchy' at best.

has anyone ever "jumped" a car/truck... i haven't ...

how bout rolling one.. i haven't, but was in one (an old bathtub 356 porche) that a buddy was driving.. we did one of those slow rolls that didn't give either of us so much as a bruise.. Sure was sad for my buddy tho.. this was in the service.. late 60's and it totaled his pride and joy.. Think the P was like 6-7 years old, but being a poor enlisted man he had saved up for it, and SOL as far as fixing it..

Yep and yep.

Really didn't mean to either time. And damn sure didn't make a habit of it.
The '61 C10 I wrote about a while back.
Out in the old stompin' grounds near "Compere" TX. All dirt roads.
Racing back to a friends house, 6 one way 1/2 dozen the other.
I went right, he went left. One of those "low water crossing" type deals.
I mighta "flew" 30 feet. Very lucky to keep it between the ditches after landing.
It was a much more "sedate" ride after that!

Rolled Dad's 1974 Dodge PU. Yep, just being stupid.
No broken bones, just bleeding like a stuck hog from broken glass.
Let's just say "fishtailing" with a 100 gallon diesel tank 1/2 full aint too bright of an idea.

damn Mike...

Had you in my prayers about that tooth issue.. Know were all sorry buddy.. doesn't help much but its from the heart.. It's just not right that you have to suffer like this. Did you get the infection down to the point they can pull it..

I've been looking at this blank space for the last 3 or 4 min.. Sorry sounds lame Mike, but sure am..

I got 'side hilled'

in a CJ-7 back in 83' and rolled 3 times. I literally PISSED and SHIT my pants, it was not something that I care to repeat, I didn't even have a licence, we were living in Scotland at the time where it is perma-soggy 350 days a year and I was up driving on the 'forestry commission' roads.

(edit) what I did have was my seat belt on and that saved me a lot of grief. I have learned over my racing years that a roll cage is your worst enemy if you ain't strapped in.........I landed on my wheels but the fiberglass top was in bad shape and the 258 was flooded but so were my britches.

Hamp... no undies brother these are those type of pj pants that gals buy cause they think its what a guy likes to wear... thier about as fruity looking as anything ive ever owned, but as the daughter bought them...

Mike i think Lucky has a good idea.. sombitch is firing on all 8 tonight or something .. i figured hed tell you to use a come-a-long on it... i sent you a pm.. not a lot of help, but sure sorry

Pard.. i have to go, but will check this tomorrow.. how did you break this to pop...

Dad went out of town when i was 16.. and i put racing stripes on his 64 corvair .. The only thing that saved my ass was i was at school when he discovered it... the corvair was black with a red interior.. had 0 options... bench seats and 3 speed on the floor, but it was a coupe and i ran red stripes down the drivers side.. looked really cool, but beyond dumb not to ask him first... id still be spitting out teeth if his co workers didn't think it looked really cool, and gave him a lot of compliments.. .Oh Dad, by the way i rolled your truck today, just for shits and giggles.. I got to hear this one... tomorrow my friends.. love you tramps like the brothers you are.. by the way mine made it 150 ft on the walker today.. so might be home by Oct.... later guys

when he came in the door.
"Where's my truck?" were the first words out of his mouth when he saw me.
"about 1 mile north in the ditch" was my reply.
"What is it doin' there?"
"Well, it's upside down, I walked home"
It was real quiet for a couple of days after that, then it was real loud for a couple of weeks after that. Then it was real hard labor for a couple of years.

SHIT Mike! That

explains a lot! You have beat yourself up a lot for your age, but then again I have as well, I smoked a lot of 'pot', did some 'acid' and 'coke' for a while in my teens (quit the weed 10 years ago), and smoked cigarettes like they were going out of style up till' 3 years ago...........I count the days before that shit catches up with me!

Damn Greasy!, Hamp!

Yall been more miles down the ditch than most people been down the pavement!
That's what my family tells me too though.
I've been admitted to a hospital once. 1st 2nd and some 3rd degree burns from a two truck accident with resulting fireball. Yep, I was a passenger in the truck that was not at fault.
So, if I look a little older than my age, hell I ought too!
Not that any of yall know what I look like. LOL
