Attached is a rarely seen perspective: a video of a U.S. Navy SEAL extraction was filmed from inside an MH-47 Chinook helicopter. The pilot has lowered the ramp, dipped the tail end into the water to partially flood the compartment, (a maneuver that requires quite precise flying) and awaits the Navy SEALs to board in their F470 Zodiac. You have just got to LOVE the skill of our military.... I think few Marine Chopper Pilots and damn few Navy Pilots would attempt this. Too easy to lose lift and ditch the whole chopper

That is spectacular. I hope they a rust warranty on that Chinook.

Yes, we have some great chopper pilots from both the Navy and Marine Corp that do this all the time.

You our dad is both a fixed wing pilot and a helicopter pilot. at least he was before the heart surgery and they grounded him. the only thing he misses almost as much as he misses our mom is flying. Our grandpa takes him flying every now and then, and us too. I want to go to West Point when I graduate high school and become a helicopter pilot and fly Apache Longbows.

Yes, I knew your dad was a pilot for both helicopter and fix winged.

Then I plan to go back to Israel and attend the Military Air Force Academy there and get my degree. The of course I would be obligated to serve in the Israeli Air Force Defense Force too. I think I have what it takes to be a good helicopter pilot and I would be proud to serve in Israel too, even though my heart is set on West Point.

My son-in-law is a West Point Grad and he was a heliocopter pilot. He is now an airline pilot for AA. My daughter went to OCS and also was a chopper pilot. She teaches school now in Florida. They both made captain before they got out!

I am considering going the Warrant Officers route so I can be a Helicopter Pilot Specialist. These guys get the best action jobs like flying fire cover for Special Forces on the ground and Search and Rescue Operations and Hostage Rescue Operations like my dad did. However, I've been talking with Army recruiters and they tell me that this is true, but I would still be in the thick of the action if I went the regular Officer's route. It's a tough decision to make, but fortunately I still have 3 years to think it over and make the right decision. That is so great about your Son-in-Law and your Daughter. You are a fine man and a great friend to me and my brother and my dad. Oh and thanks again for that composite picture. It just helped so much and I think it was the perfect way to display our final entry in our series. We're planning another series of rifles too, but first we still have that Bionix II arcticle to finish and then we have to do the shorter article on the NLOS system and a much more involved and longer article on Georgi Chuikov, gosh we got so many requests for that one. Also now Clint san has asked my brother if we would consider an article on a comparison of the how both Pol Pot and Joseph Stalin rose to power. You guys expect as much from us as our teachers at school! LOL. But at least here, the work is fun. I mean really fun. My brother Ryo chan and I just love coming here and belonging to this wonderful site and also we've enjoyed contributing to the site and we're very gratified by all the positive responses we've gotten from our work too.
Thank you again for your support and understanding and many many kindnesses.

The SF guys there did this in the Chagres (sp) river. They operated the zodiac, we held on for dear life. That opening looks small as shit as you approach. My one month in Panama was the most fun, yet most uncomfortable, I have ever been. At the end of the training, we had a battalion beach party and I was walking arounf Ft Sherman drinking Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill from my Camelbak, smoking a Cuban Cigar. I also accidentally drank some of a vodka, orange Gatorade, and piss cocktail, but I was just collateral damage in that prank. Great times.

did the monkeys piss on you when you were on patrol. A couple of my buddies were down there and whenever they went on patrol, the monkeys pissed on them. I still laugh at them for getting pissed on by monkeys...

We didn't get pissed on, but our mortar section sergeant had his patrol cap knocked off his head by monkey shit. They really do shit in their hands and fling it at you. We had fun shooting at them. We didn't have live rounds during the training, but a cleaning rod section and cleaning patch put down the bore with a blank round will propel the rod fast enough to stick it in a tree. I don't know of anyone who ever hit one, but it sure pissed 'em off.

i would have to agree our military is the best in the world. that takes some fine tuned skill to partly submerge a heli and load up a zodiac. such an awesome video
