How's it going all? Sorry I haven't been around lately I won the lotto and been counting my $$$money$$$. Been busier than a one-legged man at an ass kickin' contest Having a BAR-B-Q & HUNT for every one on GUNSLOT.
Not bad. How bout yourself? You getting any hunting done lately? I just got back from opening weekend for deer. Saw a buck every day. Didn't get a shot off. :(
no quail yet.my buddy got a daily bag on opening day(10) then got himself a few quail on a trip i was on for bear weekend before last.i got nothing.ive been out for quail/squirl 2x fired 5 shots and bagged 2 fuzzy little tree rats.by buddy already reached his legal posession limit of quail (20)i think he got a limit of doves too.goin for a bear again soon.i posted a forum topic about hunting stories and listed a good one from last bear trip and another from last year.true stories.nobody was interested,or nobody could beat the strange stories i had.
so far this year I've got nothing. I've seen plenty, but got none. They always show up when I can't shoot or if I can, take off before I can fire. We did almost get a bobcat. I saw it dart off the trail as my buddy and I were coming back from the blinds after dusk. I shone my light where I saw it take off to and saw it's eyes in the trees. My buddy said it's been taking fawn and we needed to get rid of it. He was lining up the shot, but it disappeared before he could fire. I'm kinda glad too. It was high up in the tree and I don't think my buddy thought it through. If he would've missed, there's no telling where that bullet could've gone. There were some ranch houses in that general area.
where you the guy with the older 2 3/4" lead only gun that wanted to shoot turkeys?u plannin on goin for one this year?do you get a fall turkey season where you are?we do,and i think i got a decent chance at one...fall season here is 1 bird.boy girl jake tom jenny or hen,all is legal killins.personally i have hunted and bagged more weight or number in wild mushrooms(food not fantasia)than weight or number of birds last year and this year combined(if you dont include my 14-15lb turkey from spring season)...on a side note for you or anyone interested in natural food/medicine/survival knowledge mushroom hunting is a fun sometimes edible,or otherwise useful and rewarding pastime, and very important to a person interested in natural living or survival training.i have a limited but good working knowledge of the usual edibles and poison shrooms at least in my area, and much farter according to the info in some books.although i love guns, hunting shroomsand plants(and finding food) is close to the same kind of rush to me as shooting game, and often between my huntin buddy and me we bring back meat and mushrooms in the same day/same hunt because we both watch for edibles along the happy hunting trail lol.for instance last hunt i got a squirl and my buddy got quaili mfound a good clump of oyster mushrooms growing on a cottonwood log right in the path.also found pounds of oysters in another known location earlier, and found butter boletes that day too.other days we got quail/squirl and lions mane, not to mention the black morels(most expensive/hard to see/well known tasty treat i find along the hunting or fishing path).
That's me. We have a fall turkey season, but depending on how the deer hunting goes is whether I go for one or not. Haven't seen many lately. Maybe we need to put a moratorium on turkey for a while to get the population up.
BTW, I love hunting mushrooms too. Morels are my favorite. We used to have them all over where I lived when I was a kid. We'd get dozens of breadsacks full of them. I didn't know how good I had it.
