I realize cops are under pressure but the cop took it to far.

hey dockit

I understand and everyone needs to understand, you cannot condemn a whole group because of the actions of a few. I honestly feel that the majority of folks who do that job are good people. That's been my experience and I personally know more than 20 cops/detectives/military police/FBi, etc. I can't see the video (I assume) that you posted. Also, don't get me wrong, when they do something stupid, they need to be held accountable. I am originally from Philadelphia and I believe that PD to be one of the worst in the US.

I wish that you could view it, it is pretty clear that officer White over
reacted in this case and now a 24 year old kid is paralyzed due to
a gunshot wound to his spine.

I hate whenever this kind of thing happens, I never know what to think on the one hand the officer shot and paralyzed someone who did not deserve it. On the other hand how many of us have jobs where there is a definate possiablilty that we will not be returning home to our loved ones at the end of our shift? That thought might make me a little bit jumpy too.

Now try to imagine yourself in the officer's position, further to the left. The motion this biker made could very easily be taken as that of drawing a gun from a strong side belt holster under the jacket. The law doesn't require an officer to actually see a weapon. The furtive movement by the suspect, combined with the loud tone in the officer's voice and clear commands, should have been sufficient enough to warrant the shooting. I doubt he would have been found guilty in a state like AZ or TX,

first off these idiots are no "Biker",they are harley riding dumbasss,if you want to split hairs with me on what the cop was seeing or then you gotta understand who he was pulling over.
second, why was the cop pulling these guys over?was it a felony stop, were they fleeing bank robbers? or is it SOP to pull your gun on some late nite speeders? maybe it is,i don't know, these guys are dumbasss, did the other cop pull his gun on the second motorcycle when he got out of his squad car? should be in the court papers.
so taking the angle the cop had to the left of the dash board cam,he never saw the riders right hand, there wasn't enough movement or time between the movement and the shot. This is a typical case of a cop getting an adrenaline dump during a high speed chase and over reacting,IF,i don't have all the information before me,and according to Pkato none of us can possibly understand what the cop is going thru anyway,so no i am not buying what your trying to sell, from anyone yet, that's my decision, yep being able to think for myself,i'll stick with that.
Now while your sitting on a running Harley with sirens blarring, bright lights knocking your eyeballs out, possibly intoxicated, another squad car in front siren blaring,do you really think this HD riding dumbass heard the clear verbal commands of the cop?

I know there are good cops out there, but I also know there are many bad ones as well. At least where I live most of the cops are guys that where either jocks or guys that were picked on in high school. Either way they have something to prove. The jocks are still the asshole bullies they were in school. The ones that were picked on have to show that they have some kind of power over the general public.

Unless you have responded to a call as officer...and I assume that is only a few , you can't understand. Basically, we put cops in an almost impossible situation. I mean, like Hamp said, imagine in your job you let your guard down, or you didn't sleep well the night before. With most jobs, you just survive your shift. But a cop...well, something like that can get you killed. Also, when I was a kid, there was very little violence against cops...but with all the negative influence our society has pushed on our kids, is it any wonder there is not the respect for police like there should be? Again, I will be the first one to admit, there are bad cops...but I still contend most are doing their best in a shitty situation. Make a stand, enforce the law the way you should and you are hated by everyone, called a racist, accused of profiling, etc...sit back, don't be aggressive and you are called lazy and when soemone doesn't get the attention they think you should give them...then you are a lazy donut eating pig. Pull someone over and you need to constantly think about whether this is going to be the time you get shot at...there is a lot more to think about and deal with and it's not what a lot of you might think.

GOOD TIMING

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. -- Two Arkansas police officers were fatally shot Thursday
during a traffic stop, and a short time later, two suspects were killed in a separate
shootout in a crowded Wal-Mart parking lot, authorities said.

A local sheriff and chief deputy were wounded in the parking lot shootout and
were taken to a hospital, authorities said.

The West Memphis police officers were killed after pulling over a white van with
Ohio license plates on Interstate 40 Thursday afternoon, authorities said. One
of the slain officers is the son the of the city's police (chief?) department.

The suspects fled the scene in the van, and were later surrounded by authorities,
some carrying assault rifles, who swarmed the parking lot that was packed with
other cars. The suspects were killed in the shootout, and the Crittenden County
sheriff and his deputy were wounded, authorities said.

One witness described the scene on Interstate 40 as "chaos." Stacy Gilchrist
said she saw a police officer lying in the road when she pulled up.

"It was a disaster, cars were just going everywhere," Gilchrist told Memphis television
station WMC.

It was not immediately clear why the police officers pulled over the van and details
about the suspects were not immediately known.

Sheriff Richard Busby, who was shot in the arm, and Deputy W.A. Wren, who was
shot in the abdomen, were taken to a local hospital, said Larry Godwin, the safety
director in Memphis, Tenn. Busby's condition was not immediately known while Wren
was in critical condition, a spokesman at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis said.

The two West Memphis police officers killed were Brandon Paudert and Bill Evans.
Paudert is the son of West Memphis police chief Bob Paudert and was assigned to
the police department's drug unit, Bob Paudert said.

Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe said the killings were a reminder of the risks that police face.

"I have reached out to express my condolences to the entire West Memphis Police
Department, including Sergeant Paudert's father, Chief Bob Paudert," Beebe said in a statement. "This is a loss shared by all Arkansans."

Outside the West Memphis Police Department station on Thursday, officers went in and out, some hugging each other as they passed.

(my comments: West Memphis is a shithole, fully of wefare recipients and drug dealers...a place you really would rather avoid).

Shelby County, TN Sheriff's Office SWAT team, the "Shelby Cobras", is one of the best tactical teams in the southeast because of that shitty town.

Orange Mound is a neighborhood in the southeastern area of Memphis, Tennessee and was the first African-American neighborhood in the United States to be built by African-Americans. Orange Mound is also an official suburb of South Memphis.

Built on the grounds of the former Deaderick plantation, the Orange Mound subdivision was developed as a neighborhood for African-Americans in the 1890s with affordable land and residences for the less wealthy.

Drugs and crime infected the neighborhood in the 1980s and 1990s. In the 2000s, revitalization efforts were started and show positive effects.

I would never single out any one race. My son is 1/4 Mexican. His mother was 1/2. I supposedly have some Spanish/Carribean blood. Both of my Grandfathers came here legally thru Ellis Island. I love you my brown skinned brother. hermano mio. How is the thinning of the herd coming, finding some good embraceable ewes?
