The patriotism here is 100% equal.. My own experiance is patriotism is a lot more than what you do when you're a missguided 18 year old with one to many John Wayne movies on the "watched list"... When ever i see another VN vet i wonder if he had it pretty easy like the 90% of us REMF's, or if he spent his time living day to day, dodging the same SKS's or AK's we're sticking in the closet..
To be honest i think the "adult" that leaves his family, not knowing if an IED might send him home.. alive or sorta.. is the real hero.. There are times that between Congress, the debt, and the abadonment of so many of our values, i think the Nations falling apart.. Then i see this great young generation, that might be our best ever, and i think, nope its all gonna be fine..
a man has to hold his word, hold his beliefs, and hold a good sight picture.
One line stands out to me, even as a civilian for life (so far).
"For GOD and country I'll end your life".
That strikes a chord deep inside me.
Maybe that sums it up well enough for a farm boy turned lineman who spent a good portion of his life wondering, what if I had joined?
The why not is simple. 1979. Carter, morale at an all time low. Failed rescue missions and attempts to kill Quadaffi (sic). No conflict to speak of but the cold war and Russia already blinked.
Lately, I fear my chance to fight with my fellow patriots is yet to come.
Yes, for GOD and country I'll end your life.
The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!
"you didn't built that!".
That's bullshit of the smelliest kind.
You and your power company built more than the govmnt ever could. Where did the roads and schools come from? You, the corner grocery store, the shoe store and the plumber. They built the roads and schools, not the fukkin' government.
Without you Vaq we'd literally be in the dark walking along cow trails to pick up our mail at the stage depot.
I didn't get to do much in the Navy so I can really appreciate what you guys back home were doing bustin' your butts to earn a living and giving our country a better life.
We need to ask Obummer where the gubmint got the money for the roads and schools. And where did they get the workers? This shows their view on government. Not of, by, and for the people. Over, beyond, and without regard of the people.
It means a lot coming from you.
I know I've contributed and sacrifices but the "what if" never has gone away. I don't suppose it ever will. No, I don't regret a thing (maybe some stupid shit from way back).
The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!
