I like it!
Damn, I wish I could trace my family back further.
Great grandpa changed his last name, that's the one I carry.
I had family on both sides, one of the Rebs died at Shiloh.
My family gets hard to trace too, some of my ancestors took on their wives last names when they married to avoid the law.
I got a sec. on my phone. I just wanted 2 say HI, and I hope everybody's doing good. Miss ya'll terribly!! Somebody tell GP Im happy and proud 4 him. I'll get on again ASAP!!
Fellas we might think we have hard lives
but those men literally went through hell
on earth. Both Sides
I have 14 Rebs and one Yank
The Yank was by marriage and died at Andersonville.
In 2002 I found his grave and placed a small
Union Flag on it (time period)
I go to reenactments and am on a cannon crew.
It's a lot of fun camping in 1860s time period.
Gets both unbearably hot and cold but we do it
in memory of our ancestors
2 Adam Bauers in the Confederate, 14 Adam Bauers in the union, 863 Bauers in the Union, 55 in the Confederacy.
keep a diary during the war and in 1867
he published it into a book. I have a copy
and it is full of info on the war in w Tn.
He was hiding his family in the woods near
his farm and came out to see if the raiders
had left. He got shot in the hip by a man
near his barn which was 800 yards away.
An 800 yard shot back then? WOW! Sucks to hear about your gr gr grandad but damn 800yds!?
